It is nearly a must-do to visit a Turkish Bath (Hamam) when visiting Turkey. These baths exist since mediaeval times in Turkey. The Hamams were built as public bath houses because of the strict washing rules in Quran.
 
 In the center of the room is the "Göbektas" (bellystone) made of marble, encircled by various other bath cabins. The visitor who just wears a "Pestemal" lies down there.
 
 With men it is the job of the "Telak" with women it is the job of the "Nadir" to scrub, scratch and massage the skin. It might even hurt a bit but it is as well very relaxing. Afterwards you will feel like a new born child and very comfortable. It does not only clean your body but also support blood circulation! It is also very fascinating how this guy makes the soap foam. Normally men and women take their baths divided from each other. If there is only one bath house in a city men and women have different times to take their baths. I can very recommend to try it.
