Beneath various kinds of sports, which are popular in Turkey, like wrestling, weight lifting, basketball and football there is one kind of sports which is meant to be Turkish national sports: Yagli Güres in English "Oil Wrestling"! It is probably the oldest sportive competition of the world, which is held every year in June since 1460 without respite. That's why it got an entry in Guinness World Records. The competition is held on the Sarayici-peninsula Kirkpinar near Edirne. The competitors rub in their bodies with olive oil to make the wrestling more difficult.
