Berber and Kuaför
Are there any differences between Berber and Kuaför? Yes, there are some differences. The Berber is the "normal" hairdresser, he normally cuts hair and shaves beards. Women's hairdressers are called Kuaför, in spite of the fact that there are also Kuaförs who serve men only. For me, it's simple: Berbers' prices are okay, Kuaförs are more expensive. If you fly to Turkey, there are some things you must not miss. For me, this includes a visit (or even more vists) at the Berber's or Kuaför's. If you missed it by now, you should really try it! Where else do you get shaved and given a massage this way? And it is not that expensive! You can have your beard shaved for only 1-2 €! I love sitting down there and get rid of my - by the way, fast-growing - beard. Of course, you aren't used to some things, like the removal of small hair with the "flame"! But I can assure that it doesn't hurt. By the way, if a shaving is really smooth, you say in Turkey: "Sinek kaydi tirasi!", which means " a shave where a fly slips"! In fact - this kind of shaving isn' comparable to other methods of shaving. For me, it's just cult.
Only regarding my hair on the head, I'm a little bit sceptical. "Kuaförs" aren't that creative. If you don't expect too much, you can try it. Probably, I am a little bit fussy regarding my hair. But, in my opinion, this doensn't apply to women's Kuaförs. There, women can save a lot of money! Regarding hair-coloring or permanent waves, it's not comparable to Germany; the results here are really not bad.
Example for a "shaving program":
- face lathering
- first shave
- second face lathering
- second shave
- face wash
- after-shave on it (it hurts!)
- cream put on the face
- control of nose hair
- removal of small hair from the ears with the "flame"
- massage of forehead and head, sometimes also shoulders
