Entry Regulations (effective unmodified since January 23, 2003)
For entry into Turkey you need a passport or identification card. As German tourist you can stay in the country for 3 months without having a visa. Travel documents for foreign persons which are issued by Germany are accepted by Turkey. As a "signer state" of the "European Treaty of the Regulation of Passenger Traffic between Member States of the Council of Europe" of December 13, 1957 Turkey also accepts a passport or children's passport which is invalid for only one year. Until the age of 10 children need no photo, from the age of 10 until the age of 16 a photo is required. Inscribing a child into its parents' passport is sufficient. A preliminary identification card is also accepted. Turkish citizens cannot enter Turkey with a Travel document issued by Germany. They implicitly need a valid turkish travel document. If you plan your stay in Turkey for more than three months, you will need to fetch a visa before entry at a Turkish Agency Abroad (Consulate General or Embassy). There are no special rules for alone or single-parent traveling children, as long as they left Germany legally. With your own car If you want to enter Turkey with your own car, your car will be entered into the driver's passport. In this case it is recommended to use a passport for entry. When entering Turkey owners of vans, busses, cars, trucks, caravans and motorcycles need to have a valid passport, the international "Green Insurance Card" (on which validity in the European as well as the Asian part of Turkey needs to be stated), a "Camet de Passage" (Triptique) (which is not implicitly needed in Turkey), vehicle registration certificate and if the driver differs from the owner a notarized authorization which is issued on the driver. If you want to travel to the Middle East you need to have a transit certificate. Duration of Stay The car can stay in the country for up to 6 months.
